Springbank Playschool

About Springbank Playschool

A Place for Fun and Learning

Springbank Playschool is a non-profit, parent co-operative preschool located in the heart of Springbank. We have been a fixture in the beautiful community of Springbank for generations. We are located upstairs in the Springbank Park For All Seasons building on Springbank Road.

Our non-profit status allows us to stay true to our core values. We have small class sizes, low fees, and dedicated teachers. Our low incidence of staff turnover ensures consistency and allows our students to develop strong relationships with their teachers. We utilize parent volunteers in every aspect of our school – from parent helpers in the classroom to the board of directors  – parents are welcomed and a valued part of our program.

At Springbank Playschool we strive to give our students a positive first learning experience. Our classroom integrates new ideas with tried and true favorite activities. Our smaller class sizes allow the teachers to play to the strengths and interests of the students, adjusting activities to best suit the needs of the children on any given day. Field trips, special days, and exciting guests are ongoing throughout each school year.

Our Teachers

Caring & Dedicated

Ms Kim joined the Springbank Playschool family back in 2016/2017 as the Vice President and volunteered again in 2018/2019 as the Board President. Ms Kim has been teaching at the Playschool since 2020, and has her level 3 Early Childhood Educator diploma and is currently working towards her Bachelors in Professional Arts, Human Services Major. Ms Kim strongly believes in building up children's self confidence in their social and fine motor skills. She encourages kindness through communication and working together as a team. Ms Kim believes every child is a mighty learner and are all unique in how they learn, and through play based learning their individuality can shine through. Ms Kim is an accomplished at home baker and has even made it to the final audition rounds for a few baking television shows. She loves road trips with her family, working on their farm, walking her big white dog Hank, spending time with her two children and husband..

Ms Chelsea is originally from White Rock, BC. She graduated from the University of Alberta in 2012 with a B.Ed in Elementary Education. After that, she worked as an Early Literacy Interventionist for a year in Strathmore and the following year taught Grade 1.  Needless to say she can’t help herself when it comes to encouraging phonics and letters!

When her oldest daughter Charlotte was 1, she went back to work part time as a teacher at Brilliant Beginnings in 2015/2016 until she welcomed her second daughter Avery in 2016!  Lastly in 2019, her son Bennett was born and she was home with all 3 kids!  In 2022 her family moved from the Tuscany in the NW to Springbank where her son Bennett was in Ms Kim’s class and she started subbing at Springbank preschool throughout the year! In 2023, she became the afternoon 4/5 teacher and thus far it has been the best experience! While it is still play based, their class squeezes in letter recognition, letter sounds, and science experiments!  Since moving out here she’s met so many wonderful families and really loves the sense of community in Springbank!

Ms Sheryl joined our team in 2022 and has been a great asset as she is full of energy, shows so much care to each child, and has been a big part of the Playschool community for many years. Sheryl has two daughters, who have both been part of our program.  She has always had a passion working with children both in the classroom and on the ice.  Sheryl is a figure skating and power skating instructor, working with all ages of athletes.

“Springbank Playschool provided a friendly environment that was welcoming to both parents and children. It was a much better fit for our family than the first preschool we tried and our son thrived there.”
